聖潔莓是西方傳統的天然植物西洋牡荊樹(Chaste berry)的果實，聖潔莓含有一種很類似人體黃體素(Progesterone)的成份(Vitex)。它會調節腦下垂體釋放出促黃體素，刺激卵巢釋放出促黃體激素(PRG)而抑制刺激濾泡形成激素(FSH)及抑製過高的泌乳激素(Prolactin ，RL)所造成的經前症候及月經不規則症候。聖潔莓也非常適合多囊卵巢的患者。
